In Australia, the government has announced up to $1.62 billion in funding to support the development and adoption of innovative low-carbon energy technologies over the next ten years.
The prime minister and the minister of energy and emissions reduction announced the funding for the Australian Renewable Energy Agency (ARENA).
ARENA will use the funding to fuel its work with energy industry participants, the Clean Energy Finance Corporation, research institutions and other agencies as from 2022.
ARENA’s current investment priorities include a focus on integrating renewables into the grid, accelerating the uptake of hydrogen and supporting industry to reduce emissions.
Since 2012, ARENA has directed $1.58 billion in funding towards the development and deployment of large scale solar, grid scale batteries, pumped hydro, bioenergy, distributed energy technologies and hydrogen projects.

The projects also leveraged nearly $5 billion in additional private and public sector investment.
